Hi, I'm also happy it's working now!  :-)

Yes, it would be convenient if "Duplicate files locator" could remember an individual user's preferences. If so, the user could launch the app and immediately start working (as opposed to re-entering the same info.--filter, exclusions, size, etc.)

Perhaps a small button/link (like the accessible "options" link) could implement the user's preferences. For example, an option like "retain last settings" or "make default settings" would be sufficient.

Hi sajman99,

Thanks for the feedback.
I am glad it works now. :-)

I put the initial limit to 5MB because on most PCs there are too many files below 5MB and it takes a lot of time to process them, and in most cases you only care about the big files.

I will add an option in a next version, if this change makes it a bit inconvenient for you.

Please let tme know.

Good news: I received FilePro build 162 via Live Update, and it seems to work well now. Previously the "resume" displayed after pressing "pause", but clearly there was no effect whatsoever on thread suspension. Currently the effect is evident-- processing pauses and resumes instantly.

Thanks for the great work! There are many duplicate finders, but FilePro's "Duplicate Files Locator" suits me well.

One issue to mention: build 162 now has >= 5 MB as the default size parameters for dupe checking (??). Pretty sure that wasn't the case before.

Hi,
Can you please give build 162 a try?
I made some improvements to the pause functionality.

Can you please let me know if you can see some improvement?

When you press "pause" it should say "resume".
Does this happen?

Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback.

Hi, the comparison method doesn't seem to make a difference on my XP machine.

FilePro always starts up with "Thorough" but I've tried "Quick check", cleared the cache and again tried each setting, tried with or without "Load files from cache", etc. I cannot get any PAUSE responsiveness here regardless of settings.

Thanks for the feedback.

Can you please tell me if you use the "quick check" or the "thorough" one?

Apparently I only worked on the "thorough" so your feedback will let me spot where the bottleneck is.

Thanks again

Hi, I have now tested FilePro build 160.

The accessible "options" button is a nice addition--thanks.

But unfortunately I have to report the PAUSE button is still completely unresponsive on my Windows XP system. I have let the duplicate processing run for a long while (20-25 minutes) to fairly evaluate this situation. Sorry to say-- no termination of the duplicate processing is in sight.

Dear sajman99,

The processing for duplicate files should be more responsive in build 160.

I have also added an "options" button to quickly access the options.

Hi, I can confirm FilePro build 159 now retains the duplicate results after the cancel button is pressed.

Nice work, and quick too!

Regards
